Jim skull – Perle et murano

It is in Koumac in New Caledonia that the adventures of Jim, our skull artist, begin. It is also a gateway for Oceania
and many other horizons. He goes to New Zealand, stops over Vanuatu, discovers Australia, India, and lands in Hong-Kong.
Human experiences, cultural, ritual, he is marked by his travels and encounters.
Back to Paris, we are in 1976. He enters Estienne School, then the Applied Arts School Olivier de Serres.
1980, he creates his first skulls. His vocation is now revealed and will never leave him.
He holds exhibitions in Parisian bars, takes part in the Salons d’Art, improves his technique… creating the refined result we know of today.
Contemporary art, African, Oceanian, Amerindian, popular, religious… multiple passions and a melting-pot of influences

“The quality of our lives is enriched and enhanced by surrounding ourselves with art that express values beyond their aesthetic, that possess intelligence in their creation, that one can interact with and that will stimulate the senses every time one engages with them.

Over the past thirty-five years I have travelled to remote areas of the planet, fascinated by cultures who live in community with nature – to engage with artists whose work is imbued with powerful connections to their ancestral lands. The awareness that art-making acts as a vehicle for understanding our place within a greater context, guides my own artistic pursuits.”

“Spirit Within”
2013 One of a Kind
Hydrocal, Steel, Pigment
27″H 24″W 8″D

To give this sculpture its power, or “internal dynamic”,  I developed a process that shatters the veneer of the horse as it is cast. Once cured, pigments wiped across the sculpture reveal myriad random cracking and unseen textures – a wholly unexpected landscape surfaces as the colours are absorbed by the material. A unique artwork is uncovered, with no possibility for accuracy in reproduction or consistency in finish.

And this reviving Herb whose tender Green
Fledges the River-Lip on which we lean—
Ah, lean upon it lightly! for who knows
From what once lovely Lip it springs unseen!

Tatyana Trifonova Art dolls

Tatyana Trifonova Art dolls (Russia – Moscow) – « TriffonyArtwork »

« After I graduated from the university of MARHI, I took part as an artist-designer in a great number of decorative designs. Those projects were of vast directions and complexity levels, starting with apartment designs and continuing to government order for aircraft’s cabin interiors. Developing a wide range of design-projects and solving a lot of artistic tasks coupled with a great passion for the world of dolls and fantasy led me to create the first porcelain doll of mine in the year of 2010. To my surprise, it’s obtained recognition among doll-fanciers and professional artists. Those people gave me a lot of helpful advice and shared their rich experiences with me. Eventually all the sudden for me the hobby, so to speak doll by doll, became something more substantial and in the year of 2011 the project « TriffonyArtwork » was launched. Nowadays some of the most popular dolls of « TriffonyArtwork » brand are made not only of porcelain, but using polyurethane in order to meet rising customer’s interest and demand for dolls. It allows offering some of the most popular dolls for more affordable prices as well. From the very beginning the most important thing for me was not only focusing on embody conception, but making strong emphasis on fine details which are very important for final image perception. Collaboration with the « Stardoll » company helps to maintain high standards of workmanship quality during production of polyurethane dolls. Welcome to my world of dolls. »

« Ce que c’est que l’ombre, Soren le sait, et ce qu’il sait, il ne nous appartient pas de le savoir, mais nous puisons dans son trait gratté les blessures qui nous façonnent (…) Et puisque nous sommes plusieurs en une seule peau, il va là où nous sommes dans nos ombres sans mots. » Pierre Vavasseur

Kerby Rosanes – Sketchy stories illustration

Kerby Rosanes works mainly with ordinary black pens to magically illustrate his “doodle” world. The 24-year old artist considers his art as a personal hobby which turned out to be his part-time freelance work after being recognized by various design blogs, international magazines and online communities.

Most of his works are characterized by whimsical lines, patterns, characters and little elements that are spontaneously combined to create massive compositions depicting his everyday experiences or anything that inspires him.

He recently left his job as a graphic designer in a local company to finally pursue his passion: creating more art for personal projects and for various clients and collaborating with other artists and design agencies around the world.
